Winners announced: Dutch 3D Design Doha design challenge!

We would like to announce to you the winner’s of the Dutch 3D Design Doha challenge.

First we would like to announce the runner up, which is….   Ralph Zoontjes! Congratulations. The jury states:  “He created a delicate 3D design to be used for various applications of accessories and ornaments. The original design had no flaws and could be printed straight away. The details in his lace like design exploit the possibilities of 3D printing and combines the contemporary and traditional into an elegant piece, with a wink to our Dutch identity.”

A few weeks ago, during king’s day the winner was already announced, this is Mark Brand! Also to you, Congratulations! This design was unanimously chosen as the winner.  It was the design of a bowl. The jury states: “with his Generative Design, Mark has shown to be able to translate various Arabic geometric patterns into algorithms as a generator for unique and unlimited contemporary designs, while making full use of 3D printing techniques in shape and materiality.”

The organisation would also like to sincerely thank all contestants for their dedication, patience and creativity. A special mention goes to Leslie Forehand of VCUQ, for her dedication to make each of your designs fit for printing. Also to Stefan Zwegers, of IDEa, who assisted in making this challenge possible and finally Yvette Burghgraef – van Eechoud who made the design challenge possible as the ambassador of the Netherlands in Qatar. Please check our facebook page for updates on the projects!

As a prize Mark and Ralph, the winner and runner up, will visit Doha in Qatar later this year! We hope they will have a wonderful experience!

Thanks to those who participated, stay tuned for more opportunities in the future!
